Sustainability Indicators

A set of indicators of the economic, social and environmental sustainability of the forest-wood chain was defined and revised within the EFORWOOD project. The indicators build the general sustainability assessment framework and were intended to be compatible with other, broader sustainability indicator sets. Indicators were defined that are valid for the entire forest-wood chain for the case studies. Only those indicators that capture the impacts of the chain on sustainability were used.

ToSIA uses most but not necessarily all of the indicators.

Data collection protocols were designed for the indicators and specify details of data collection for those indicators where primary data is needed in the prototype of ToSIA.
